Our model of care is patient centered on our belief that older-adult and geriatric rehabilitation needs to be delivered within a continuum of care. We design rehabilitation programs-such as neurological and orthopedic rehabilitation programs to individually meet the needs of the residents in our care.
Our program offers weekly visits by a Physiatrist. This is our own in- house physician who specializes in rehabilitative medicine in order to maximize and restore functional ability and quality of life for all of our residents.
Together with our Physiatrist, we train our therapists to think beyond traditional therapy and explore whether it might be best to restore, compensate and/or adapt for a patient’s loss of function. They demonstrate comprehensive clinical reasoning through consistent application of this model of care across all programs.
Park Pointe Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center is one of the few facilities that has full-time, 7-day-a-week Occupational, Physical and Speech Therapy services. Our therapists are employed by the facility and work all hours to meet your needs. They are truly part of your team. Our qualified therapists work for you!
Physical Therapy is a treatment that includes an assessment of the underlying impairment in strength, range of motion, balance and endurance that an individual may have following an injury or illness. The staff helps individuals regain function abilities such as walking, getting out of bed, safety with transfers in/out of car, and instruction with any assistive devices such as a cane or walker.
Occupational Therapy is available for patients who are having difficulty with their activities of daily life and/or self-care. This includes dressing, bathing, use of the bathroom/showering, eating or preparing a meal, home management, cognition, orientation and social skills.
Speech–Language Therapy provides evaluation and treatment for a variety of deficits and disorders such as Dysphasia (swallowing), cognitive deficits, confusion and memory deficits, as well as language and speech disorders. Many patients increase their ability to make themselves understood and understand others in a conversation. Speech-language therapy assists with memory problems, forgetfulness, and eating difficulties due to coughing or choking.
